SBI’S RS 2M SUPPORT TO CSR INITIATIVES

CSR remains an important aspect of SBI’s involvement in the Mauritian society. During the last financial year, it was decided to persevere in the Bank’s initiative geared towards education and health.

SBI CSR Fund for the last financial year amounted to USD 48,574.34. SBI, being a caring organization, aims at bringing its contribution to the welfare of the needy people of the country. Our threefold initiative towards helping the ZEP schools children aims at instilling the values of education in these children since their tender age. Indeed, books, encyclopedias and dictionaries have been purchased and distributed to children of 7 ZEP schools namely Seeneevassen Govt. School, H. Ramnarain Govt. School, Residences Vallijee Govt. School, Andre Bazerque Noel Govt School, Candos Govt School and Ste T. de L’Enfant  Jesus RC. The Bank is also sponsoring an enhancement programme at Bois des Amourettes Govt. School targeting children of Standard IV, V and VI. Additionally, the Bank has partnered with an NGO to conduct sports camps after school hours and during week-end as a means to prevent these children from falling in the vicious circles of prostitution and drugs. In all a total of USD 31,940.35 is being spent on ZEP Schools’ students.

Additionally, SBI has once more reiterated its help to the Mauritius Heart Foundation by its association with local Indian PSUs. A sum of Rs 2.28 M was donated to the organization for their 2011 ativities. SBI’s contribution amounted to Rs 200,000.00.

In our quest to bring its support and contribution to the provision of quality education to needy children, SBI has partnered with New India Assurance and the NGO CEDEM which will set up specific courses for 30 children aged 3 to 9 and 80 children 10 to 18 at their specialized primary school. The donation amounts to Rs 300,000.00.
